38 frequently asked questions from plan selection to troubleshooting, organized by category and directly searchable.
This page summarizes the most common issues encountered when configuring and using Duckip Proxy. You can browse by category or use the search box at the top of the page to directly search for keywords (such as whitelist, session, check proxy).
Usage Suggestions More than 90% of problems can be pinpointed using three basic steps: ① Use curl in the terminal to verify if the proxy is working; ② Check if the username/parameters in the link are complete; ③ Confirm the upstream network environment and whitelist. For detailed steps, see the troubleshooting quick reference table.
Account and Plans
Q: Which product line should I choose?
Choose based on 'whether a fixed identity is needed' and 'whether long-term stable export is needed':
| Your Needs | Recommended Product Line |
|---|---|
| Large-scale public page collection, IP rotation allowed | Dynamic residential proxies (by traffic) |
| Long-term data collection, desired traffic has no upper limit | Unlimited residential proxies (bandwidth and concurrency combination tiers, billed by time period) |
| Accounts / shops and other situations requiring a long-term fixed IP | Static residential proxy · traffic or · bandwidth |
| Single verification, temporary testing | Dynamic residential proxy (by traffic, lowest cost) |
| When unsure, first use a dynamic residential proxy to run through the workflow, then upgrade to static or unlimited products according to business characteristics. |
Q: Is there a free trial?
Whether a trial is provided, the trial quota, and the application method are determined by official policies. Please refer to the activity prompts in the dashboard or responses from customer service. It is recommended to verify the 'pre-set environment → proxy → target site' link with the smallest quota plan before making an official purchase.
Q: What payment methods are supported, and how long does it take to take effect?
The dashboard 'Wallet / Plan Purchase' page will list the currently supported payment methods and account arrival instructions. Generally, the plan will be activated after a successful payment; if it is not activated for a long time, please keep the order number and payment screenshot and contact customer service for verification.
Q: How many sub-accounts can be created at most? How can they be restored if suspended?
The authentication account management page displays the maximum number of sub-accounts that can be added (currently up to 10 sub-users). Authentication accounts with no traffic or requests for 30 consecutive days are automatically suspended. You can confirm their status on this page and reactivate them. If an account is deleted by mistake, recreate it and update the configuration in your application.
Q: Where can I check the remaining data and available IP addresses?
① Dashboard → My Products: View the status and remaining quota of each product line; ② Enter a specific product line → Data Statistics / Traffic Statistics: View usage details. Static proxies will also additionally display the number of available IPs.
Q: Can username/password authentication and API extraction be used at the same time?
Okay. Both are suitable for the combination of 'using the API to obtain IP on demand for programs' and 'using account credentials with a antidetect browser to maintain a fixed session', but there are three points to note: · Belonging to the same main account: The usage generated by both methods is under the main account and can be viewed in the main account dimension in "Data Statistics"; · Billing by plan: Dynamic residential is billed by traffic, static residential is billed by traffic or bandwidth, unlimited is billed by 'bandwidth × concurrency × billing cycle'; each plan is metered independently and cannot be offset against each other; · Sub-accounts bound by plan: Sub-accounts for different plans are different and cannot be reused across plans. Please create/select a sub-account under the corresponding plan.
Q: What should I do if I want to change the plan or increase the number of IPs after purchase?
Operations such as plan changes and IP additions are usually completed on the plan purchase page in the dashboard, or handled by customer service. It is recommended to first record the proxies and sessions bound to each environment before making changes to avoid an overall migration of environment IPs after switching.
Authentication and Extraction
Q: Why does the API fetch return empty results or indicate authentication failure?
Check the following four points in order: ① Whether the whitelist has already added the outgoing IP of the current upstream node; ② Whether the app_key extracted from the link is complete or has been truncated; ③ Whether extra spaces or line breaks were included when copying the link; ④ Whether the plan has expired / the quota has been exhausted. You can first directly copy the link generated by the dashboard and open it in a browser to confirm that it can return results before integrating it into your program.
Q: Which IP should be entered in the whitelist?
Fill in the outgoing IP of the hop that actually initiated the request: If your program or browser accesses the internet through an overseas node, fill in the public outgoing IP of that node, not the address seen locally in the country. Execute curl -s api.ip.cc in that front-end environment to get the IP to add.
Q: If the IP of the upstream node changes, do I have to re-add it to the whitelist?
Necessary. The whitelist requires an exact match, and if the outbound IP of the front-end changes, API extraction will immediately fail. Fundamental solution: Apply for a fixed outbound IP for the upstream node, or switch to username/password authentication (which does not rely on a whitelist).
Q: Why must num=1 be set when extracting API configuration to the antidetect browser?
Because an environment of the antidetect browser requires 'a stable exit.' If multiple IPs are returned at once, the client will distribute among these IPs, causing the egress IP of the same environment to drift, which greatly increases the account's risk control. Therefore, when configuring for the antidetect browser, the extraction quantity must be 1.
Q: What is the maximum number of IPs that can be extracted at one time?
The extraction quantity is limited to 500. When collecting in batches, it can be split into multiple extractions according to concurrency, and a reasonable life should be set for each extraction to avoid a large number of IPs expiring at the same time.
Q: What is the difference between "Batch Generation" and "Universal Mode"?
The only difference is in the output format: General mode outputs the Proxy Server / Port / Username / Password field structure, suitable for manual entry; Batch generation outputs a compact multi-line host:port:user:pass result, suitable for bulk import. The Shell mode directly provides executable commands.
Q: The extracted proxy username is too long. Can I simplify it myself?
Not recommended. The area / state / city / life / session segments in the username are switches that control the region and validity period. Deleting or modifying any segment will result in behavior that does not match expectations (for example, ending up in the wrong country or changing IP every time). The correct approach is to reselect the parameters in the dashboard and then copy them.
IP, Region, and Quality
Q: Why is the IP location different from the country I selected?
There are three common reasons: ① The region code in the username/link is misspelled or does not match the product; ② The third-party IP database is outdated (the same IP may have different locations in different databases); ③ Random or global mixed streaming was selected. It is recommended to first check the parameters, and then cross-verify using multiple detection sites.
Q: How can I tell if the IP I got is a residential IP?
Use inspection sites to check whether the ASN type is residential/ISP, and see if it is marked as a proxy or data center. api.ip.cc, ipinfo.io, and ippure.com can all be used as references; different sites have different criteria, and occasional inconsistencies are normal.
Q: I set up a session, so why does the IP still change?
The session reuses the same IP only within the life duration. The IP will change if any of the following conditions are met: ① life is not set (by default, it changes with each request); ② the life duration has been exceeded; ③ the same session is used concurrently by multiple processes/devices; ④ the username is changed, causing the session segment to become invalid.
Q: What is the maximum duration that life can be set for?
The maximum duration for a single IP with username/password authentication and API extraction is 120 minutes. For longer-term stable output, please use a static residential proxy (IP does not change automatically).
Q: Can it be specified to the city or ASN level?
Sure. The country, state/province, and city serve as three levels of location. username/password authentication is specified through area / state / city, while API extraction is specified through cc / state / city; ASN is specified in username/password authentication as asn-xxxxx. The more precise the target area, the smaller the optional IP pool. It is recommended to first verify availability using a broader granularity.
Q: Will the IP of a static residential proxy change?
Does not change automatically — Static proxies are assigned a fixed IP, suitable for accounts that need to maintain the same identity for a long time. If you need to change it, please contact customer service or follow the instructions on the dashboard; the number of IPs and renewal methods are subject to the explanations on the purchase page.
antidetect browser and Client
Q: What should I do if 'Check Proxy' keeps failing in the antidetect browser?
Check in the following order: ① Whether the four parts of host / port / account / password are copied completely (especially the parameter segment in the username); ② Try switching the protocol to HTTP first; ③ Use the same parameters to execute curl -x in the terminal to verify whether it is a proxy issue or a client issue; ④ Confirm that the local network environment is normal; ⑤ Confirm that the plan quota and account status are normal.
Q: Which should I choose, HTTP or SOCKS5?
Default to HTTP: Best compatibility and easiest troubleshooting, supported by the vast majority of clients and antidetect browsers. Use SOCKS5 only when UDP is needed or specific clients require it; if there are parsing anomalies under SOCKS5, first suspect the local DNS resolution (switch to remote resolution or change to HTTP).
Q: After opening the environment, the IP does not change and is still the local IP?
Indicates that the environment's proxy is not effective. Check: ① whether the proxy information has been saved; ② whether the environment has been restarted; ③ whether there are group rules of 'direct connection / do not use proxy' overriding it; ④ whether the enterprise client has a global proxy policy. After adjusting the settings, it is recommended to close and reopen the environment.
Q: What should I do if multiple environments have the same outbound IP?
Return to the dashboard and use 'Batch Generate' to produce different sessions, assigning one to each environment; at the same time, record the 'Environment ↔ Session' correspondence in the ledger to avoid reuse later.
Q: Do I need to create a sub-account for each environment?
Not necessary. Sub-accounts are mainly used for 'quota and isolated billing', while IP isolation between environments is achieved through sessions. Recommended practice: allocate a small number of sub-accounts according to business lines or team members, and use different sessions to differentiate environments.
Q: Which antidetect browsers can use Duckip Proxy?
As long as the client supports filling in 'Host Port Username Password' or 'API extraction link,' it can be used. This help center has covered AdsPower, Bit Browser, Hubstudio, Dolphin, and provided general methods for clients such as Zinia, Yangtao, VMLogin, ixBrowser, Maskfog, Multilogin, etc. For details, see the 'antidetect browser' category.
Networks and Protocols
Q: Do I have to use it in an overseas network environment?
Yes. Both the dashboard and the official documentation clearly indicate: all types of IP are only supported for use in overseas network environments. For a mainland China network environment, it is necessary to first prepare an available overseas proxy node, and then whitelist its outbound IP or switch to using account credentials.
Q: Can it be used simultaneously on multiple devices / multiple servers?
Yes, but the upper limit of capability is determined by the product line: Unlimited residential proxies provide capacity based on the 'bandwidth × concurrency' combination (bandwidth determines speed, concurrency determines the number of simultaneous connections), while static residential proxies’ bandwidth mode is limited by the purchased bandwidth. If speed drops significantly under high concurrency, it is recommended to: ① use different sessions separately; ② upgrade the plan's bandwidth/concurrency tier; ③ contact customer service to evaluate a more suitable solution.
Q: Which proxy protocols are supported?
Only HTTP and SOCKS5 are supported, other protocols such as SOCKS4, SSH, HTTPS, etc., are not supported. · In the client's 'Proxy Type / Protocol' section, please choose only between these two options, try HTTP first; · The protocol parameter extracted by the API is used to specify which protocol the returned results should adapt to; · When enabling the cache proxy, only HTTP can be used.
Q: Why can't some domain names be resolved under SOCKS5?
Some clients by default resolve domain names on the local machine under SOCKS5, which can result in unroutable addresses in fake-IP / split-routing environments. Solutions: switch to the HTTP protocol, have the client use remote resolution (socks5h), or let the proxy chain handle DNS uniformly.
Billing and Data Usage
Q: How is traffic calculated?
Traffic statistics are based on the actual traffic transmitted via the proxy. The specific definitions (whether upstream/downstream are counted simultaneously, etc.) should refer to the dashboard usage page and official documentation. It is recommended to set limits separately for sub-accounts and services to facilitate attribution by service.
Q: What is the difference between 'traffic' and 'bandwidth' in static residential proxies?
Traffic-based modecharges according to the actual data usage, suitable for elastic tasks and trial periods;Bandwidth-based mode charges according to bandwidth without data limits, suitable for continuous connections and high-concurrency scenarios. Both types use fixed IPs and only require username/password authentication.
Q: How is unlimited residential proxy charged? What is the relationship between bandwidth, concurrency, and billing cycle?
Unlimited residential proxies select the tier according to the combination of 'bandwidth, concurrency, and billing period'. The three are in a combination relationship, not an either-or choice: · Bandwidth: Determines the transmission speed of this line (the upper limit of single-thread and overall throughput); · Concurrency: Determines how many connections/threads can be maintained at the same time; · Billing Cycle: Charged according to the selected time period (the purchase page lists prices in units such as 'hour/day'; the specific units and available periods are based on the purchase page). You need to renew the payment after the cycle expires to continue using the service. Traffic itself has no upper limit, but queuing and slowdowns can still occur when bandwidth or concurrency is insufficient. When choosing, please also evaluate the peak concurrency, acceptable speed, and duration required by the business.
Q: Are unlimited residential proxies really unlimited?
Unlimited refers to no limit on total data usage, not 'unlimited capability.' Its actual capacity and cost are determined by the combination of bandwidth, concurrency, and billing cycle: bandwidth determines speed, concurrency determines how many connections/threads can be maintained simultaneously, and the billing cycle determines how long this purchase can be used. Please choose the tier according to peak business demand and usage duration; if the peak is exceeded, increase the bandwidth/concurrency tier, and if the duration is insufficient, choose a longer cycle or renew upon expiration.
Q: In the 'Data Statistics' of dynamic traffic, what do the main account and sub-account each track?
The two are statistics from different dimensions: · Primary Account: The aggregated usage of the entire product line (plan), used to determine whether the plan is sufficient and to evaluate overall costs; · Sub-account: The traffic and requests consumed by each authentication account, used for attributing by business/team/environment group and quickly identifying accounts with abnormal usage. Recommended troubleshooting order: first look at the main account summary → then drill down to the sub-accounts → combine with sub-account notes to locate specific business.
Q: I purchased multiple plans at the same time. How are the usage and costs calculated? Can sub-accounts share them?
Three rules: · Ownership: The usage of all plans under your name is recorded under the same main account; · Billing: Billed separately by plan — Dynamic residential is billed by traffic, static residential is billed by traffic or bandwidth, unlimited is billed by "bandwidth concurrency billing cycle"; each plan is measured and charged independently, with no offset between plans; · Sub-account: The sub-account is bound to a specific plan (you need to specify the product type in the authentication account management). Sub-accounts for different plans are different and cannot be reused across plans; using a sub-account with the wrong plan will prompt "Account unavailable." It is recommended to create separate sub-accounts for each plan (with the plan identifier included in the name), and to monitor the remaining quota of each plan separately in 'Data Statistics'.
Q: Where can I view usage details and bills?
Check usage curves in the dashboard under 'Data Statistics / Traffic Statistics,' and view recharge, order, and invoice-related records under 'Wallet / Order Management.' When an invoice or reconciliation information is needed, keep the order number and payment proof and contact customer service.
Cache Proxy and Certificates
Q: What is the use of a caching proxy? How much data can it save?
The cache proxy will cache specified types of static resources: when a request matches a resource in the cache, it is returned directly from the cache without going back to the origin site, thereby speeding up access and saving traffic (the dashboard indicates "20% saved"). It is only effective for "identical static resource requests" and provides no benefit for dynamic interfaces or operations that require login state.
Q: Why is it necessary to install an SSL certificate after enabling the caching proxy?
After enabling it, the gateway will use its own certificate to establish a connection with the client. If the certificate is not installed, the browser or program will report 'Certificate not trusted.' Follow the official tutorial to download the certificate (example file duckip.crt) and install it into the 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities'; after installation, restart the program that uses the proxy so that it can reload the system certificate chain.
Q: Why can it only use the HTTP protocol after enabling caching?
This is the established limitation of this feature, and the official documentation clearly states: after enabling proxy caching, only the HTTP protocol can be used. If the target site can only be accessed via HTTPS, please disable the cache or switch to a connection that does not use caching.
Q: When installing a certificate, if 'Unknown Publisher / Security Warning' appears, can I continue?
The certificate is downloaded from your own dashboard and is a normal self-signed certificate prompt. According to the official documentation: when a security warning appears, click "Yes" to confirm the installation; in the Windows 'Open File - Security Warning' window, click 'Open (O)' to continue. However, if the file does not come from the dashboard, cancel and re-download it first, and do not install a certificate from an unknown source.
Q: Does the caching proxy support Bit Browser?
Not supported.BitBrowser is not supported when using a caching proxy. If your operations must use BitBrowser, pleasedisable the caching proxy on the corresponding client link; if you must use a caching proxy, please switch to other antidetect browsers such as AdsPower, Hubstudio, or Dolphin.
Q: What types of files will be cached?
The dashboard will list the currently supported resource formats, covering common static resources such as .jpg / .png / .gif / .svg / .css / .mp3 / .mp4 / .avi / .pdf / .doc / .ppt / .zip / .rar / .7z / .exe / .apk, etc. The complete list is subject to what is displayed in the dashboard; resources not on the list will not be cached.
Q: How can I confirm that the cache is actually working?
Two methods: ① Send two consecutive requests for the same HTTP static resource and compare the time consumed and the returned size (the second request is usually faster); ② Check the 'Cache Traffic Details' in the dashboard to observe the data hit by the cache. If the hit is not ideal, check whether the resource type is in the supported list and whether the two request URLs are exactly the same.
Compliance and Support
Q: What usage restrictions need to be noted?
Please make sure that your usage complies with the terms of service of the target website and local laws and regulations. Some sites involving payments, government, finance, and other sensitive attributes generally have clear usage restrictions in the proxy industry; it is recommended to confirm with Duckip customer service whether the target scenario is supported before use.
Q: Can the test proxy configuration be used directly in the production environment?
Not recommended. Temporary configurations used for testing (especially shared sessions or short-lived IPs) are not suitable for carrying production accounts. Before going live, please check each item according to the 'antidetect browser → Pre-launch Consistency Checklist'.
Q: How to contact technical support?
Contact through the online customer service entry at the bottom right of the dashboard, or the official after-sales email / ticket channels. To speed up the processing, please provide all of the following at once: account, order number, issue description, reproduction steps, parameters used (can be anonymized), and key screenshots.
Q: What is the relationship between this help document and the official documentation?
This document is a compiled draft based on existing tutorials, completed and formatted, intended to connect 'proxy extraction, antidetect browser configuration, and FAQ' into a practical, actionable path. The names of product features, parameter meanings, and interface should follow the Duckip dashboard and official documentation; in case of any conflict between the two, the official documentation shall prevail.
