Browser, OS, and Mobile Setup
Use system or browser-level proxy settings when the workflow is manual, QA-oriented, or tied to a specific browser profile.
macOS
Open Network settings, select the active network interface, open proxy settings, choose HTTP or SOCKS proxy, and enter Host, Port, Username, and Password.
Linux
For command-line tools, environment variables are often easier than desktop settings.
export HTTP_PROXY="http://your-username:your-password@Host:Port"
export HTTPS_PROXY="http://your-username:your-password@Host:Port"
curl https://proxy.duckip.netFor tools that do not support username/password proxy auth directly, use a proxy helper such as proxychains and configure the proxy entry in the helper config.
iOS and Android
Mobile operating systems can configure Wi-Fi proxies, but many app-level workflows need a dedicated proxy client. Use SOCKS5 or HTTP settings supported by the selected client, then run a connectivity test before starting the app workflow.
Practical Warning
OS-level proxy settings affect more traffic than one browser tab. Use a dedicated browser profile or proxy client when you need isolation.
